FIAS Framework for Mountain Biking

The FIAS Framework is a research-informed Framework, designed to tackle persistent gender inequality in mountain biking through cultural transformation. The Framework can be used to support existing work by cycling organisations, industry, service providers and other stakeholders.

FIAS Framework for Mountain Biking

Building strong, sustainable and growing communities of women+ mountain bikers is at the heart of the FIAS Framework, and you can download the FIAS Toolkit supporting the development and growth of women+ communities in mountain biking here. In addition to community building, continued cultural transformation in mountain biking also requires strategic programmes across three pillars that:

1. Foster integration of women+ into mountain biking culture;

2. Support women+ into positions of leadership in mountain biking; and

3. Continue to support the transformation of cultural representation of mountain biking.

The FIAS Framework sets out these four vital areas of strategic focus and guides their implementation via strategic priorities and goals.

To the right, you can download the complete Framework and additional resources (PowerPoint presentation and 2-pager). If you would like to discuss further how to embed the FIAS Framework in the work of your organisation, or find out more about the research on which the Framework was based, please contact Fiona Spotswood (Fiona.Spotswood@bristol.ac.uk) or Martin Hurcombe (M.J.Hurcombe@bristol.ac.uk).
