FIAS Toolkit
The FIAS Toolkit is designed to give you ideas and guidance if you’re involved in a women+ mountain bike community.
The Toolkit is for you if you’re interested in setting up from scratch a mountain biking community for women+ in your area; or if you already run, lead or take part in a mountain biking community and would like to support its growth and sustainability.
The Toolkit provides ideas and guidance on:
• Planning and initiating: How to get things off the ground.
• Recruiting and diversifying: How to reach the women+ you’d like to reach.
• Ensuring a positive experience: How to get the vibe right on every ride.
• Retaining and sustaining: How to ensure your community thrives and grows.
The FIAS Women+ MTB Community Building Toolkit is one of the outputs of Project FIAS (Fostering Inclusive Action Sport), a project run by the University of Bristol designed to understand and address gender inequality in mountain biking. The researchers leading on the Toolkit focus on understanding and addressing gender and other inequalities in sport and physical activity. Another key output from the project is the FIAS Framework, which you can find here.
To the right, you can download the complete Toolkit. If you would like to discuss the Toolkit further, or find out more about Project FIAS, please contact Fiona Spotswood (Fiona.Spotswood@bristol.ac.uk) or Martin Hurcombe (M.J.Hurcombe@bristol.ac.uk).
